Listening Section

The TOEFL iBT Listening section takes from 40 to 60 minutes to complete and is aimed at measuring student’s knowledge of English spoken and used in academic settings in the US. The tasks can very from 6 to 9 and usually include such thins as:

• At least 2 dialogues followed by questions. This may be a conversation between friends, instructor and a student, a counselor and a student and the like
• At least 2 lectures followed by questions
• At least 2 lectures, in which students also ask questions or provide comments, followed by questions for you to answer

This section of the TOEFL test is completed with the headphones which allow you to adjust the volume the way you want. Moreover, you can take notes, which, however, will be destroyed before you leave the test classroom. The peculiarity of this part of the test is that you must answer the questions consequently; coming back to answer previous questions is not allowed.
